RAUTAHAT MADHESH

Madhesis are a group of People from lower land of Nepal. Madhesis occupy most important geographical location called Terai (or Madhesh) which is most startegic location for Nepal’s economic prosperity and development. Terai is bordering the Indian states Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttaranchal.

Madhesis are a group of peoples of diverse culture, multi lingustic, varied color, and vibrant life style. Madhesi is proud in its simplistic and natural life style. Madhesi include different groups – MaithilisBhojpurisAwadhisTharus, Rajbanshi and also some smaller tribal groups.

Madhesis are diversly spread across Nepalese geograpy and in Indian soil. The high density of Madhesis is concentrated along the Indo-Nepal border line. Madhesi form 40-50 per cent of the total population of Nepal. Madhesis have immense influence in the growth of country, but the contribution of Madhesi remains less visible. Any change in Madhesh creates the ripple effect in the another aspect of Nepalese life.

The land of Terai-Madhesh is most productive and contribute mostly in the development of Nepal. Due to the ease of availability and accessibility of high quality resources, Terai form the Industrial hub of Nepal. This agricultural bowl (65 % food grains ) along with the Industry (70-80%) setup forms the vertebrate of Nepal, extending from Mechi (East) to Mahakali (West).
